Chapter 227 - 224: Thinking About Filming, or the Person You’re Filming With?
Truthfully, Clara Grant had thought he didn’t care. While she secretly breathed a sigh of relief, she also felt a faint sense of disappointment.
Her eyes lingered on the box of medicine he had tossed into the storage compartment, only moving away after a long while.
...
When they arrived at the apartment and parked, Clara Grant checked the time. It was already three in the afternoon. She once again offered to borrow money from him to take a taxi back to the film set, but Seth Quinn flatly rejected the idea.
Clara Grant didn’t know if he was rejecting her request to borrow money or her plan to go back to the film set. He wouldn’t answer when she asked, simply dragging her into the apartment.
"Seth Quinn, I have to film tomorrow, and I’ve already missed nearly two days of observing the other actors. I need to get back."
Clara said, trying to wrestle her hand free.
If she had remained silent, it might have been fine. But the moment she spoke, Seth Quinn suddenly slammed her against the wall and loomed over her.
A viciousness she hadn’t seen in a long time returned to his eyes. He pinned her with one hand and gripped her chin with the other, sneering, "Didn’t you once say you don’t even like acting? That it didn’t matter to you whether you were in a film or not? So why the sudden obsession?
Are you really so concerned about the film, or are you just pining for the person you’re filming with? Hmm?"
Clara froze, not quite understanding what he meant. ’When did I ever tell him I didn’t like acting? When did I say it didn’t matter whether I filmed or not?’
’But that wasn’t the point. The point was his last question: was I pining for the film, or the person I was filming with?’
’Hah. She’d suspected several times that Chloe Grant had gone to him and told him she liked Miles, but she’d never let herself dwell on it.’
’It seemed he really did know, didn’t he?’
’He was putting on quite an act. He’d known for so long, yet he’d kept it all in, never even asking her about it directly.’
’Was he really that self-controlled, or did he just not care at all? It didn’t matter who she had feelings for. In the end, she was just his bedwarmer!’
"Yes! I am pining for the person I’m filming with!" Clara shot back defiantly. Since he already knew, there was no longer any need to hide it.
"Clara Grant!" Seth Quinn snarled through gritted teeth. ’Weren’t they supposed to say that if a man satisfied a woman in bed, she wouldn’t think about leaving? That she’d devote herself to him completely and never think about another man?’
’Bullshit!’
’He’d worked so damn hard to please her. Hadn’t he satisfied her enough? Was this woman just a thankless beast, or did he need to stop holding back to truly satisfy her?’
"Looks to me like you’re just asking for..." Seth said viciously, but the last word was lost as he crushed his lips against hers.
It wasn’t so much a kiss as a bruising assault. Biting would be a more accurate term. There was no tenderness, no affection—only a savagery more violent than ever before.
Clara felt the stinging pain on her lips, but she didn’t make a sound or struggle in the slightest.
’In moments like this, a man was like a wolf. She wouldn’t be able to break free even if she tried. In fact, the more she struggled, the more ferocious his assault would become.’
But her stillness, her complete lack of response, only agitated him further. The movements of his mouth and hands grew even more brazen.
Finally, his lips left hers and began to trail downward. His hands started to roam, exploring her body without restraint.
Clara appeared impassive, but inwardly, she was terrified.
But just as suddenly, his actions came to an abrupt halt, stopped by the jarring ring of a phone.
