Chapter 140: Challenge? Huh?!

This man is very suspicious.

Earlier when Marvin asked Helena for help, he did not see a mask on this man’s face. That was why he directly asked her.

Now that he came closer to the man, when he saw the mask, how could he not doubt the man’s intentions?

Vernon’s lips twitched.

"I am sure," Helena said with a smile and sat on the chair opposite Vernon.

Seeing that Helena decisively sat with the man, Marvin couldn’t say anything more and nodded before leaving to his group of friends.

"Hi. I am Lena. I am here on vacation. What about you?" Helena asked as she started eating.

Vernon smiled and replied, "I am Ernie. I am on a vacation as well."

Helena nodded and did not speak further as she continued eating.

She slowly leaned over towards Vernon and whispered, "What’s with the mask? You look like you are planning a robbery here."

Vernon coughed and adjusted his mask. He slowly lifted it to put a spoonful of food in his mouth before setting it back.

Once he was done with the food, he sneakily looked at the combined tables in the restaurant.

He whispered back, "You know I am famous, right? How could I show my face to those kids?"

"You know them?"

"Yeah. Met a couple of them once or twice. I saw a few from afar. In short, if they saw my face, they would recognize me." Vernon whispered before having another bite slowly and sneakily.

Helena facepalmed at his actions. But she could understand what he meant as well.

If he was on a normal vacation, it wouldn’t matter meeting a few known faces. But they were on their ’honeymoon’ right now.

It is a mess if those people meet Helena or did not. Either way, it would be problematic for their trip and plans. So, it is indeed better to keep their identities a secret.

"So, you are Lena?" Vernon smiled and asked.

Helena smiled and nodded, "Yes. You know, thanks to you, my name became as famous as your face."

Vernon pursed his lips and nodded in understanding. It was like he finally got someone who could understand his position.

Despite his mask, Helena understood his expression and chuckled.

"What are your plans today?" Vernon asked.

"Why should I reveal my plans to a stranger? Wouldn’t I put myself in danger by doing that?" Helena looked at him in wary and leaned back.

"..." She is back in her character? Great! Vernon sighed to himself, "Since you are on your vacation alone, I just wanted to accompany you, beautiful lady."

Helena pursed her lips to stop herself from smiling. "I am sorry. But my itinerary is a secret."

Once she said that, she stood up and left the table.

Vernon sighed. He looked at the little food remaining on his table and then at the young kids at the other table who were making a huge scene with fun. He did not dare to sit in front of them any longer and got up to leave as well.

"Hey, brother. Stop." Marvin’s voice stopped Vernon from leaving.

"What is it?" Vernon asked.

"Why are you using a mask at the restaurant?" Marvin asked him seriously.

Vernon coughed two times and replied, "I caught a cold. Why do you ask?"

Marvin looked at him in doubt for a couple of seconds, "Really?"

"Of course it’s true. Why do I need to lie to you, kid?" Vernon was almost angered.

Marvin got his thinking face on before he nodded, "You are right. You shouldn’t have a reason to lie to me. Anyway, I am not liking the way you look at that sister from before. You better maintain some distance. If something happened to her, I will punch you first before finding the reason. Do you understand?"

Marvin seriously warned him. But Vernon did not feel threatened at all.

Despite his warning face, Marvin actually looked like a little kid with the pose of both his hands over his hips and his nostrils flared up.

For a second Vernon wanted to pinch his cheeks. Before his hand moved, he stopped himself. He then wondered why he had that weird urge just now.

"Do you understand?" Marvin looked at the dazed Vernon and repeated his question. This time, more seriously.

Vernon raised an eyebrow. "Kid, are you challenging me?"

"Challenge?" Marvin was stunned. He thought he was warning him. Where did this challenge come from? He did not understand.

"Yes, challenge. Looks like you think I can’t get that girl. So you are trying to keep me away from her, huh?" Vernon slickly tricked the young man by twisting his words.

"Huh?" Marvin really did not understand what he was saying at all.

After thinking for a second, he nodded, "You are right. There is no way a sneaky man like you could get that sister. Anyway, stay away from her."

"That sounds more like a challenge to me. Interesting," Vernon smiled as if he was scheming something.

Marvin was stunned. Why does it feel like he instigated a demon to follow the kind sister for no reason?

’Did I just harm Sister Lena?’ He thought to himself.

He opened his lips to stop Vernon from doing whatever he was planning but before he came back to his senses, Vernon was already out of his sight.

He ran out of the restaurant to chase after Vernon but to no avail.

On the other hand, Vernon was laughing to himself as he skipped towards his room. It was really fun to tease kids.

He looked at his watch. It was just after lunch. There is nothing he could do in his hotel room. He should tour the place instead.

He looked around. There was no one.

He sighed to himself.

A tour is really fun only with company. A lonely trip is no fun at all.

He wished Helena was by his side. For so many years no matter how many trips he went to, he always took Helena with him.
