Chapter 192: The Day Adrian Vanished
Chapter 192: The Day Adrian Vanished
Before the reality could sink in, Matteo leaned forward, finding Adrian’s mouth again for a few more soft, lingering, affectionate kisses.
When he finally pulled back, Matteo wrapped his arms tightly around Adrian, pulling him into a crushing, fiercely protective hug. He buried his face in Adrian’s hair, whispering over and over again into the silence just how much he loved him.
"I love you more, baby," Adrian murmured, leaning into the solid warmth of Matteo’s chest.
Matteo smiled and pressed a tender kiss to the top of Adrian’s head.
After a moment of comfortable silence, he spoke softly.
"Baby."
"Yes, love?" Adrian replied.
Matteo hesitated for a second before speaking.
"Can you do something for me?"
Adrian tilted his head. "What is it?"
Matteo’s arms tightened around him slightly.
"Please, babe... can you make peace with Kevin for now?" he asked, his voice turning more serious. "Something about him doesn’t feel right to me, and I don’t want you drawing his attention or ending up in the middle of whatever he’s hiding... seriously, babe—"
Adrian didn’t let him finish. He offered a reassuring smile and nodded. "Honestly, I was already thinking the same thing after what Tony told me. I’ll try to talk to him the next time I see him downstairs."
Matteo let out a sigh of relief.
"Thanks, baby."
A tired laugh escaped him.
"Damn, I could fall asleep right here and now, but we really need to clean up this mess first."
Adrian chuckled, looking down at their mess. "Let’s clean up, then we can rest on the bed properly."
"Okay," Matteo agreed.
They both stood up and headed into the bathroom to share a warm shower, washing away the evidence of their intense release. Afterward, they changed into comfortable, loose lounge clothes and finally collapsed back onto the bed, wrapped in each other’s arms.
Later that evening, Adrian ran into Kevin in the hallway.
Before Adrian could say a word, Kevin approached him with a subdued expression and immediately apologized for everything that had happened between them.
"It’s fine," Adrian replied calmly, accepting the apology.
Not wanting to keep the tension alive, Adrian also apologized for his outburst at the breakfast table.
With that, the matter seemed settled, and the tension between them finally eased.
Excited to deliver the news, Adrian quickly went to find Matteo and told him that he had made peace with Kevin. Relieved that the tension in his house had dissipated, Matteo decided they should all celebrate and go clubbing that night.
They all headed out to an exclusive club, where Frank and Charles joined the group.
Everything went incredibly smoothly.
The bad blood was completely gone, and Adrian and Kevin even shared a proper, friendly conversation while sharing drinks at the VIP table.
When they finally returned to the estate after the club, everything felt peaceful. Kevin acted like he was a completely reborn version of himself polite, distant, and unbothered.
For the rest of the week, the house remained completely quiet and harmonious.
By the second week, however, Adrian decided it was time to go back to his own apartment because of his mounting art projects and work schedule.
Matteo initially refused, entirely against the idea of letting his partner out of his sight. But after Adrian gave him a few practical reasons about needing his specific studio equipment, Matteo reluctantly agreed on one strict condition: he would accompany Adrian to work every single morning and pick him up every night.
Adrian immediately agreed, flashing him a bright smile.
"Okay, Daddy. Anything you say, as long as you let me go back to work and be responsible for my own projects."
Matteo shook his head with an amused smile.
The two of them shared a look before breaking into matching grins.
Meanwhile, over the weekend, Iris’s officially mandated lock-up period had ended, and she was granted permission to leave. Surprisingly, she flatly refused to go.
Initially, Matteo had never brought Iris to his own estate; he had kept her secured over at Marissa’s house. During her time there, Iris had been living comfortably and eating well, and under Marissa’s strict but elegant guidance, she had actually become significantly more responsible.
She wasn’t even thinking about escaping.
Even after Matteo sent word through Marissa for Iris to contact his men and arrange a pickup, Iris refused to leave Marissa’s house, insisting that she wanted to stay longer and learn more from her.
To Matteo, he thought Iris was a miserable prisoner, but she was actually thoroughly enjoying her stay.
The only restriction she had was a lack of complete freedom since Marissa’s heavily armed bodyguards wouldn’t let her step past the gates, but Iris wasn’t even trying to run.
On Monday, Matteo kept his promise, dropping Adrian off at his studio in the morning and picking him up late at night. The same routine went perfectly on Tuesday, and again on Wednesday.
But on Thursday, everything changed.
After Matteo dropped Adrian off at the studio, his driver took him to the corporate office.
The moment he arrived, Matteo immediately sent Adrian a text to let him know he had reached his destination safely. It was a habit they had developed together, always keeping each other updated throughout the day.
But this time, Adrian didn’t send his usual text back.
Matteo sent a quick follow-up text. It didn’t deliver.
He dialed Adrian’s number directly. The call wouldn’t connect at all, going straight to a dead line.
A sudden wave of unease settled deep in Matteo’s chest. His instincts screamed that something was wrong. Unable to sit still, he called Adrian’s art studio directly to check on him.
The staff member who answered the phone sounded entirely confused. "Sir, my boss hasn’t come into the office today at all."
Matteo bolted upright in his office chair, his heart dropping. "What the hell do you mean? I dropped him off myself." He gripped the phone tighter, his voice tight. "Put Kate on the phone right now."
A moment later, Kate came on the line, her voice dripping with worry as she confirmed the same thing: Adrian had never walked through the front doors.
Matteo’s adrenaline spiked. He was just about to dial Mark and Tony to mobilize the entire security detail when his phone buzzed with an incoming text from an unknown number.
He snapped it open.
I know by now you’ve realized your little boyfriend is missing... If you don’t know yet, this is to officially inform you that Adrian is with me. 😂 Let the game begin.
Matteo’s vision went red. He immediately forwarded the message to his tech team, but the reply came back instantly: the text was heavily encrypted and entirely untraceable.
Hands shaking with a lethal rage, Matteo immediately called Tony back at the estate to check on their prime suspect.
"Tony. Confirm Kevin’s location right now. Is he at the house?"
"Yeah, he’s right here," Tony replied, sounding entirely casual. "We’re actually sitting in the lounge playing video games together. Why? What happened?"
Matteo walked out of his office, his voice dropping into a terrifyingly dark, murderous tone. "Adrian is missing, Tony. Someone took him. I’m on my way back to the estate right now."
Tony’s casual demeanor instantly vanished over the line. "Matteo, calm down. Do not lose your head. I will look into the security grid and find out what happened immediately. Just get here safely."
Matteo slammed the phone down, grabbed his coat...
