Chapter 358 - 7: Wind Law Queen
Chapter 358 - 7: Wind Law Queen
If someone hurled insults at Luyetan, like calling her a materialistic bitch, it would be water off a duck’s back. She might even play along.
But if they called her a Succubus, even though it could be taken as a compliment to her Charm, Luyetan didn’t like to hear it.
Because she really did have Succubus blood.
Emperor Qianlu himself was of Enchanter origin, so one would think he wouldn’t have discriminated against the Divine Ancestor’s lineage. Yet, he was the first to do exactly that. When even a Celestial God despised and disowned his own bloodline, what reason did the mixed-bloods who inherited the Enchanter Blood have not to feel vexed?
Having had her buttons pushed, Luyetan was sullen for the rest of the evening. Even playing a few more games of Endless War Chess with Westheid and having dinner together did little to improve her mood.
Finally, after showing Westheid and the others around the High Court, Luyetan said faintly:
"Well, that’s all for today. Your residences are within the High Court. If you need anything, just ask a servant."
With that, she turned and left, the sound of her footsteps especially crisp on the tiled floor.
Mivana tilted her head at the sight. Though not particularly clever, she was very perceptive of emotions.
"She didn’t seem very happy. Did your talks fall through?"
"Fall through? No, not for that reason. I think she just got triggered."
Westheid smiled and said, "I never knew Luyetan’s skin was so thin. But this is good. At least she won’t be making casual jokes anymore."
"Alright, we should get some rest now and wait for a response from the Royal Court."
After speaking, Westheid returned to his room.
His nightlife was usually quite rich. Normally, whenever he was with either Reiya or Mivana, they would be inseparable from morning to night. The poor King of the Wheel could hardly handle two peerless Powerhouses.
This time, however, Westheid had important business and couldn’t continue his life of debauchery. Fortunately, Reiya was always understanding, and the Super Xing Qing King, Mivana, had long since learned to control her desires, so the frequency with which she tried to drain him dry had greatly decreased.
The luxurious suite prepared in the High Court of the Yuanshi Territory was even more extravagant than Westheid’s own palace in Su Yue. Perhaps that was why he cared so little for such pleasures.
Westheid sat down at the desk, sinking into contemplation under the dim, hazy lamplight.
’The Grand Law Officer of the Thousand Laws Royal Court...’
’I didn’t expect that Reiya and Mivana wouldn’t be allowed into the Royal Court. They’ve already been torn to pieces by the Demons, yet they’re still so wary of outsiders. It’s a clear sign of distrust.’
’Duke Qinghui had indeed come with the intention of taking over the nest. If the Grand Law Officer was wary of me from the very beginning, things would get difficult for me.’
’After all, the Grand Law Officer... he’s a power-abusing hack, just like the Steel Will Guardians, able to use the Celestial Blessing.’
’In a straight fight, I’m confident I wouldn’t lose to anyone in the Mortal World. But that damn Celestial Blessing is the cornerstone of the Royal Court. No mortal could hope to gain an advantage against it.’
’Unlike the restraint shown by the Steel Will Guardians, from what I know, Eilvette feels no burden or hesitation in invoking the Thousand Laws Ceremony. In his eyes, any existence that threatens the Royal Court’s rule and order must be brutally suppressed.’
’So, do I have to work an angle with the Wind Law Queen? But I don’t know anything about her. I’ve never even met her.’
Westheid tapped the table and picked up the Shadow-Born.
’Forget it. Since it’s come to this, I’ll go find Wan Qi first.’
He planned to relax his mind and immerse himself in the Imaginary Space of the Master of Extinction.
This time, however, as Westheid closed his eyes to meditate and let his consciousness drift downward, he didn’t descend as usual. Instead, it felt as if he had been caught in a hazy net. When he opened his eyes, his surroundings appeared unchanged—it was still the same room from before he’d closed them—but everything was now overlaid with a dreamlike, pale pink filter.
"Hm?"
Westheid hesitated for a moment, then immediately understood what had happened—his consciousness had entered another Imaginary Space.
’What sort of scoundrel dares to launch a sneak attack on me?!’
Duke Qinghui flew into a rage. He had never been attacked by a Spiritual Technique before. The sheer audacity!
But just as Westheid’s anger flared, a breathtaking sensation came from behind him. A fragrant scent wafted over, accompanied by a familiar voice:
"Duke Qinghui, don’t turn around. It’s me, Luyetan."
"Luyetan?"
Westheid turned his head slightly, and sure enough, he saw the exquisitely charming face of the mistress of Yuanxi Palace. But unlike when they had parted, Luyetan’s cheeks were an unusual shade of crimson, and her amber eyes seemed to burn, her pupils shaped like hearts.
"Shh, don’t be alarmed, Duke Qinghui. I’m the one who pulled you here."
Luyetan blew softly into Westheid’s ear, a sweet fragrance wafting from her cherry-red lips.
"Mmm... I thought you’d be tumbling in the sheets with Her Highness Reiya, so I even waited a little longer."
After seeing Luyetan, Westheid’s anger and hostility vanished instantly. He said faintly,
"This Consciousness Space... If I’m not mistaken, this must be a bloodline ability of the Enchanters, right?"
The Talent of the Enchanters was the ability to enter another’s Consciousness Space and provoke intense, high-desire emotional fluctuations in order to absorb energy.
In short: to create erotic dreams.
