Chapter 587: Fight for Hoenn - 6
Chapter 587: Fight for Hoenn - 6
{Back at Slateport City}
Gabby and Ty were still at the hospital, but after the Mobile Association building came online and they sent an SOS, it quickly came to the hospital to evacuate all the people stuck there.
However, when Captain Stern got on and held a hand out for them, just as Gabby was going to take his hand, Ty stopped her.
"Actually, Captain Stern, we’re gonna stay behind and keep looking for others. We’ll call you if we do," he said quickly. Then he grabbed Gabby’s hand and pulled her behind him, taking Gabby completely by surprise.
"What’s going on, Ty?" she asked, narrowing her eyes a bit. In all the years they had known each other, she knew Ty wasn’t the kind of person who got...for lack of a better term, "commanding."
She knew he usually just followed along with everything she did like a lovestruck Poochyena, although there was no way Ty was actually into her, right? I mean, they’d been friends for so long, right?
Anyway, that wasn’t the reason why Ty pulled her aside. Instead, when they watched the blimp leave, he looked out at the buildings and narrowed his eyes.
"Gabby, don’t you feel that too?"
Gabby blinked in surprise again and looked out. She didn’t see anything, though she did feel like something was watching them.
"What are you talking about, Ty?"
Then before Ty could say anything, a blur of white moved past them quickly before landing right in front of them. They both recognized it immediately: Absol. Specifically, this was Ash’s Absol that he released earlier to do a job, but he hadn’t shown up since because he hadn’t found anyone that could help him do what needed to be done.
The reason for that is, with Absols, there is still the misconception that they create disasters instead of warning people about them. It’s just the way the world works, even though there are people out there who try to explain the true nature of Absol. For people who suffered from disasters and then saw an Absol, it’s easier to just blame it for all their problems.
And Gabby and Ty were no strangers to the stigma around it, but they had never personally met an Absol, so they didn’t know what to think of it. Ty stepped in front of Gabby protectively while she took a step back.
"You...don’t tell me. Is all of this your fault?" Ty asked, narrowing his eyes as he slowly reached for the PokéBall on his belt.
But instead of fighting or getting defensive, Absol looked at them, then lowered itself and gestured to its back with its horn.
"Eh?" Gabby and Ty said in unison.
"Do...you want us to...get on?" Gabby asked, remembering the fact that some people said Absol only warns people about disasters.
And Absol smiled slightly when she said that, making both Gabby and Ty look at each other nervously.
"Hey Ty, what do you think the worst-case scenario is? How much more dire could this situation get?" Gabby asked.
Ty stopped and rubbed his chin, "If Kyogre and Groudon have an all-out battle with each other like they did in ancient times, they could tear apart the entire region."
Gabby nodded once, then to Ty’s surprise jumped onto Absol’s back.
"Exactly! That’s the worst-case scenario!" She leaned down to speak to Absol, "Tell me, Absol, will the two Legendary Pokémon fight each other, and if so, where?"
Absol heard her, stood up, and immediately started running while carrying Gabby. Ty got caught off guard and started running after them.
"Wait! I’m going with you too, Gabby!"
Just as Absol jumped off the building and Ty jumped after it without thinking things through, before he fell into the water, Gabby’s hand reached back and managed to grab his.
"Don’t worry, I’ve got you, Ty!" she said as she pulled him behind her so they rode Absol together.
As they ran, Absol jumped onto the water, and when they thought they were going to sink, Absol’s feet touched the surface and didn’t sink. Then it kept running, and in the distance they could see Kyogre, though thankfully they weren’t heading toward it.
But then something happened that took them by surprise. As they ran across the water, two beams of light shot out of the sea, one red and one blue. They flew directly into the sky and began to spiral, but they couldn’t get a good look at what it was. Absol just kept moving, though for a moment the two figures remained in the sky.
But as they kept moving, Ty managed to pull out his tablet and looked at the Hoenn map. His eyes widened.
"Gabby, I know where Absol is taking us!"
"What do you mean?" Gabby shouted back.
"The direction we’re going, and the energy coming from Groudon and Kyogre...we’re going to the mystical city, Sootopolis!"
As he said that, Absol jumped onto a cliff and looked off into the distance, and just like Ty said, they could see Sootopolis. And in the distance, they also saw Groudon.
"Wait, so this means...this is where they’re gonna meet!" Gabby said in shock, "Ty, call Captain Stern!"
But Ty already had his phone out, "Already on it!"
It only took a few rings before Stern answered, but he didn’t even get to say hello before Gabby grabbed the phone, "Groudon and Kyogre are going to fight at Sootopolis City!"
"What? A fight?" Stern said in shock, but then a new pair of voices spoke behind him.
"What’s this...? Oh no, our worst fears are coming true..." the old male voice said.
A second female voice spoke next, "The awakening of the ancient Pokémon..."
The ones who said it were the Mt. Pyre guardians, the old couple who were too old to continue guarding the Red and Blue Orbs, so they left it to Tate and Liza.
The Chairman, who was nearby, looked confused, "What are you talking about? Kyogre and Groudon are already awake and on the move."
"That was only the first awakening. What is about to happen is the second awakening!" the old man said frantically.
"The second awakening?" the Chairman asked in confusion.
The old lady nodded gravely, "The first awakening at the Seafloor Cavern was the awakening of the body," she explained, "But the second awakening...is the awakening of the mind."
Everyone around them immediately went silent.
"If the two Legendary Pokémon are heading toward Sootopolis City to awaken their minds at the Cave of Origin," the old man continued, "once they have both, there is only one thing left..."
"To finish their battle from thousands of years ago and settle the score once and for all!"
For a moment, everyone hearing what they said was silent, but immediately the Chairman broke that silence by screaming:
"Contact everyone we have available! From the Elite Four to the Ace Trainers and Rangers, everyone is to move to Sootopolis City!"
—
Ash’s plan had worked. He set this plan in motion so that he could make sure the actual strong trainers were all in one place so they could work together. After all, why would he do this alone if he could get the Elite Four to help him?
Sure, he had a good relationship with two of them, but he didn’t have the authority to tell them where to go, and from what he heard, they were scattered all around Hoenn just in case. It was better to have them all where the fight was actually going to happen instead of randomly spread around.
And just like he thought, Drake received that call too. He was still with Briney, Ultima, and Mr. Stone, along with Green and Gary.
They had just finished getting the full story from Joseph, and needless to say, they were not too happy he had hidden this from any of them. Green and Gary reacting like that was expected, but the rest of them had been friends for years, and he still didn’t tell them the risks.
But just as Joseph was looking down in defeat, that’s when Drake got the call, and he clicked his tongue. He said he was going to help, and Green and Gary obviously decided to go with him since they wanted to fight.
But since they were going, Ultima decided to join in for her own reasons, and since they were going, Briney agreed to come too. After all, after Drake gets dropped off, someone still has to drive his boat.
But before they left, Joseph’s old friends looked at him and told him to find another way. Something like that was the last option no matter what. Then they left him there to think while they went to deal with the bigger problem.
As they were on the boat, Drake and his crew started sailing the ship while the others sat by and enjoyed some stew. As Drake said, "You can’t expect to fight on an empty stomach." If they were going to fight, they needed every bit of extra energy they could manage.
So as they sat eating, Green finally looked over at Ultima, whom she had already spent some time with back in the Sevii Islands while training under her. Funny enough, Ultima actually acted a lot like her. They were both tricksters and loved to laugh at others’ misfortune while still helping after they finished laughing. That’s why they got along so well.
"So, Gr-Ultima," she stopped herself. She was about to make a joke, but now wasn’t the time, "Why are you coming with us?"
But before she could say anything, Drake spoke, "She’s interested in that scroll Gary took."
Ultima nodded, "You got it." Then she grinned and pointed at Briney with her thumb, "And this stinker here came along since he’s hopelessly in love with me. He’s such a stalker~"
"What?!" Briney said quickly, pointing at her, "You’re the stalker! You’re the one always finding excuses to call me!"
Gary watched this, then watched Green and Ultima laughing, and yep, he could definitely see the resemblance between the two. But he pulled out the scroll and held it out, "Here. What is it?"
Ultima finished laughing and took the scroll, opening it up to examine it carefully, "Hmm...I see..."
"What is it?" Green tried peeking over her shoulder, but she couldn’t understand the words written on it.
"Did you kids know that there are technologies in the world that allow techniques to be stored and then released to teach a Pokémon a move?" Ultima asked as she rolled the scroll back up.
In this world, TMs weren’t really a thing. Well, they kinda were, but they were so expensive since they couldn’t be mass-produced that none of the high-level trainers ever used them. The reason was because the way a move was learned through them was fixed, so no matter what, it couldn’t get better.
"Yeah, I heard about them," Gary nodded, "I think they were called Technical Machines, but I never found much use for them."
"Right. Well, there are a few other ways to store techniques." She lifted up her staff and the three rings clicked together, "Like my rings. They have a powerful move stored in them. And also..." she held the scroll up, "this scroll has the same thing."
"Really? Okay, what is it? Let’s pop it open and teach it to one of our Pokémon!" Green said while pumping her fists.
"Now hold on a minute," Ultima stopped her, "The way to release powerful moves like this is to destroy the thing holding it. In this case, you’d need to rip the scroll. But I can’t tell what move this is, so there’s no telling if your Pokémon can use it."
"Boo, that’s lame," Green pouted.
But Gary understood and took the scroll back, "Okay, I’ll hold onto it. But if that girl had this powerful move, why wouldn’t she use it already?"
"Maybe she can’t," Drake said, "It might be too powerful for her to learn, or it may have a special effect that makes it different from other moves of the same type."
"Hmm, fine," Gary said while putting the scroll in his pocket, "We can figure out what it is later. For now, I’ve gotta see if I can get Ash on the phone again."
"Oh right, that Ash friend of yours. He’s the third of your trio, right?" Ultima asked, which got Drake and Briney’s attention.
Green put her hands on her hips and pointed her nose toward the sky, "Yep! And just like you and Mr. Briney, he’s so obsessed with me. He’s a stalker just like him."
"Sure he is," Gary said blankly, meanwhile Briney was in the background wondering why he was catching strays.
Ultima chuckled, then looked at them.
"Alright then, Green, this is your final lesson from me. And for you too, Gary."
Before they could question it, Ultima spun her staff and looked like she was going to smack their wrists, but at the last moment she turned the hard hit into a light tap while keeping the same speed.
When Green and Gary looked at their wrists, they saw that they were now wearing gold bracelets that had been attached to her staff before, "These rings hold my most powerful secret technique...if you can unlock it."
"So how do we do that?" Gary asked.
Ultima smirked, then took the last ring off her staff and handed it to them, "Simple. You need to unite all three. So give this to your friend and all three will open. Then simply give it to your strongest Pokémon."
"Is it really that easy?" Green asked.
"Trust me, this situation is a way better test than the one I had ready," Ultima laughed, "What better way to learn than to be in the middle of two Legendaries and a meteor coming to destroy the planet?! Hahah!"
But no one really laughed at her dark joke. Green and Gary just looked at each other and sighed heavily, "Fine. Let’s do this."
—
The fighting had been going on for multiple hours now. Nearly every city in Hoenn, especially those in the direct path of Groudon and Kyogre, had been evacuated at this point. However, that did not mean the crisis was over.
Groudon and Kyogre were both moving toward Sootopolis City, but not for lack of trying. The two teams had been giving it their all fighting against the two Legendaries, however they didn’t fight back against them much anymore.
It was almost like their priority wasn’t to fight them anymore. Something in the middle of the battle changed, and so they kept moving. Sure, if the trainers landed a few too many potshots at their backs, they would turn and retaliate, but after one or two moves they would start moving again like they didn’t care for their own safety.
And the weirdest part of all was that they moved almost robotically. So every time Groudon would shoot a lava geyser or Kyogre shot actual geysers, when they saw the teams retreat to dodge, they would start moving yet again.
And this continued for so long that eventually both squads saw Sootopolis City...and the other Legendary in the distance.
-
{Groudon Side}
The air around Groudon had become even hotter. The earth melted underneath every single step it took while rivers of lava carved through the landscape behind it. Even Wallace’s Walrein was struggling now as steam constantly exploded around the battlefield.
"Don’t let it advance any farther!" Wallace shouted, "[Ice Beam]!"
Walrein immediately slammed both front flippers into the ground and launched a bright blue beam, but he wasn’t aiming at Groudon, he was aiming toward Groudon’s legs.
The beam of ice hit and created a glacier under Groudon’s feet, making it slip for a second. A normal [Ice Beam] would have been useless here, but Wallace’s Walrein was on another level entirely. Even in this extreme heat, its ice had a hard time melting.
Then while Groudon was slipping, Wallace called out, "Now, Brendan!"
Brendan nodded immediately, "Aggron, block it head-on!"
"Right behind you, bro!" Brawly called out with him.
His Aggron roared and slammed directly into Groudon’s advancing leg. The impact alone cracked the ground apart, but Aggron held firm while glowing with metallic energy as it used [Iron Defense] to brace itself.
At the same time, Brawly’s Hariyama ran up to do the same to the other leg. With both of them working together, they were making Groudon lose its footing.
Nearby, Roxanne called out while still standing on top of Probopass, "Keep the pressure on!"
Probopass unleashed another barrage of [Rock Blast] at Groudon’s head while she had two little Nosepass fly out and hit the ground too to make Groudon lose its footing even more.
Meanwhile, Wallace himself stepped forward gracefully.
"Milotic, [Hydro Pump]!"
A massive torrent of water slammed into Groudon’s side, causing the Legendary to take a step back in pain as steam erupted off it.
It actually looked like they were pushing Groudon back.
Then Groudon’s eyes glowed, and the ground beneath all of them suddenly cracked apart.
"Oh no!" Roxanne started.
BOOOOOOM!
A gigantic eruption of red energy exploded outward from Groudon’s body like a shockwave. Everyone was blasted backward instantly.
Aggron and Hariyama skidded violently across the ground while Probopass got launched into a cliff wall. Wallace barely managed to protect himself behind Milotic before being thrown backward anyway.
"GYAH!" Brendan yelled as he hit the ground hard.
Brawly got launched straight off the cliff edge entirely, falling to the ground below. Thankfully it wasn’t too far of a drop.
But unfortunately, the edge Brawly fell off was beginning to melt, and a glob of molten rock was falling directly toward him.
"BRAWLY!" Roxanne shouted first, trying to get his attention so he could move.
Brawly’s eyes widened as massive chunks of molten rock collapsed above him.
But then suddenly a voice called out, "ARMALDO!"
An Armaldo burst forward and grabbed Brawly before the falling boulders could crush him, jumping out of the way.
"Huh-?" Brawly blinked in shock as someone landed beside him.
"You okay?" the man asked calmly.
Brawly looked up and immediately saw the Team Magma uniform.
Immediately his expression hardened, "You!"
Nearby, Roxanne and Wallace both tensed as another figure finally caught up behind the first one, completely out of breath.
"Wait-hold on-phew!" Tabitha panted heavily.
The moment they saw the Magma uniforms, Pokémon immediately turned toward them aggressively.
"We don’t have time for this!" Roxanne snapped, "You evil red-uniform people, are you trying to attack us to protect Groudon?"
But the older man quickly raised both hands, "We’re not here to fight," Blaise said seriously.
Tabitha took a breath while trying not to collapse from exhaustion, "We came to help stop Groudon," he explained quickly.
Wallace narrowed his eyes carefully, "And why should we believe that?"
Blaise pointed directly at Groudon marching toward Sootopolis, "You don’t have to believe us. That’s proof enough that this has gone too far. This isn’t what we wanted, and if it keeps going then there will be nothing left."
Tabitha caught his breath, "Look, phew...after all of this is done, you can judge us all you want. We can even turn ourselves in and tell you everything. But right now we don’t have time to talk or fight."
Brendan ran up next and looked at them suspiciously, "I have a friend who told us you were behind Groudon waking up, so were you?"
Blaise looked down, "Yes, we are responsible," he admitted, but he looked back up seriously, "And after all of this is over, we can talk about our punishment. I’ll accept any punishment you deem fitting. But can we please protect Hoenn before it’s too late?"
As much as they wanted to interrogate them, they did not have the time. Every second talking was another second Groudon took to get closer to the city.
"Fine. But don’t try anything or I swear, I’ll show you that I’m not all laughs and play," Wallace said seriously.
Blaise nodded, but then Tabitha quickly asked, "Wait, have any of you seen a girl with magenta hair wearing a Magma uniform?"
"Eh?" they said in unison.
"She’s our friend, and she’s in danger. She can’t process what’s dangerous, so we’ve been looking for her," Blaise explained, but he pointed at Groudon, "We can walk and talk. Come on, let’s move now!"
So begrudgingly, Wallace, Brendan, Roxanne, and Brawly accepted this temporary team-up to go after Groudon.
—
The storm had only gotten worse. Massive waves crashed endlessly against the coastline while the flooded landscape allowed Kyogre to move faster and faster toward Sootopolis.
"Keep it away from the deeper channels!" Winona shouted from atop Mega Altaria.
Altaria immediately unleashed another powerful [Dragon Pulse] toward Kyogre’s face.
Beside her, May quickly called out, "Blaziken!"
After the lesson Winona gave May, she could actually make use of the situation they were in.
"[Double Team] into [Thunder Punch]!" she commanded.
Multiple copies of Blaziken sprinted across the flooded field before the real Blaziken spun through the air and slammed electrified punches directly into Kyogre’s side one after another.
Each hit connected, making Kyogre cry out in pain, but when Kyogre tried to swing its tail to swipe the Fire-type, its tail passed through all the clones. None of them were the real one. The real Blaziken had already moved away.
Kyogre roared angrily,
"That’s it, May!" Flannery shouted.
May grinned confidently, "See?! I told you I can keep up!"
She made sure to use Blaziken’s speed to hit and run before Kyogre could strike back, and she even used that to create openings for everyone else.
Wattson laughed loudly despite the chaos, "Hah! Ya finally stopped doubting yourself!"
Raichu and Manectric unleashed simultaneous Electric-type attacks while Flannery’s Torkoal launched [Solar Beam] after [Solar Beam], using the openings May created.
It looked like with all of them together, they were actually going to stop it. And admittedly, yeah, Kyogre was maybe at half strength now.
But that just meant now it was time for Kyogre to lock in. Kyogre’s eyes suddenly glowed bright blue.
"Uh oh..." Wattson muttered.
BOOOOOOOOM!
A gigantic wave of blue energy exploded outward. Everyone got blasted backward instantly.
Winona barely stayed airborne while her Altaria struggled against the winds. Flannery hit the ground hard. May’s Blaziken grabbed her and jumped into the air for safety.
But Wattson got hit directly and launched backward, knocking the wind out of him. Then he fell backward into the water. His Manectric tried to grab him, but the wave separated them, so Wattson fell beneath the water and started sinking. If he didn’t get out, he would drown.
"WATTSON!" Flannery shouted as she tried to go after him, but her knee gave out. She looked down and saw she had slammed it hard earlier.
May’s eyes widened, "No!" She looked back at Blaziken, "Blaziken, go-"
But before she could finish the command, they heard a splash as a bald man dove straight into the raging ocean without hesitation.
A few seconds later, he resurfaced while dragging Wattson upward with one arm.
"There!" Winona pointed while flying down to grab the stranger and make sure Wattson was okay.
The man struggled against the current before finally throwing Wattson back onto solid ground.
Flannery froze the moment she got a good look at him, "...Wait."
May’s eyes widened too, "That guy-"
Even without the uniform, they recognized him. It was that Team Aqua Admin they had run into before, and they both immediately got into fighting stances.
Amber raised both hands immediately the second Blaziken stepped in front of him aggressively, "Whoa whoa! Relax!" he shouted.
"Blaziken, get ready," May ordered immediately.
Blaziken crouched low, prepared to attack instantly.
Flannery stepped forward angrily and pointed at him for the confused Winona, "Winona, he’s one of the people who attacked me before back at Mt. Chimney!"
Winona realized immediately, and her eyes darkened as she prepared to help subdue Amber.
Then another figure suddenly rushed between them, "WAIT!"
Everyone blinked as Shelly raised both hands defensively, another one of the people they saw at the mountain. May remembered her from way back when they tried to kidnap Mr. Stone.
She stood protectively in front of Amber, "We understand why you’d react like this," Shelly said honestly, "And I don’t blame you after everything we did."
Flannery narrowed her eyes, "Then why are you here?"
Shelly looked toward Kyogre, "...Because we were wrong."
Amber rubbed the back of his head awkwardly, "Trust me, we figured that out way too late."
Shelly took a shaky breath, "I ran simulations and saw that if Kyogre wins, then the world will sink. There is no paradise like we were promised, so we have to stop it before the world gone!"
"And after this is over," Amber added while raising his hands again, "you can arrest us if you want. We won’t fight you."
Winona studied them carefully.
"But right now," Shelly continued desperately, "everything will be destroyed. First Hoenn, then the world!"
Behind them, Kyogre let out another massive roar while gigantic tidal waves began forming again.
Then Wattson slowly sat up, coughing violently, "...Ugh...remind me to never do that again..."
Amber sighed in relief, "Good, old man’s alive."
May looked at them. Part of her still wanted to attack anyway, but she let out a breath and looked away, though her eyes still held anger, "Fine. But you better help."
Flannery crossed her arms, "And I don’t forgive you for what you did."
"I understand," Shelly said while looking down, "But right now, we have to stop them."
So begrudgingly, May, Flannery, Winona, and Wattson agreed to join forces for now.
—
The raid continued, but as the two teams ran after the Legendaries, at the last moment both of them suddenly covered their bodies with energy and blasted through the air, flying straight toward each other at Sootopolis City.
But before they managed to enter the town, at the last moment they seemed to finally gain awareness and stopped right at the edge of Sootopolis City, still outside the town itself.
But at that same moment, from the sky a red and blue beam shot downward, splitting apart as the red beam went to Groudon and the blue beam went to Kyogre.
When the lights collided with the Legendaries, a giant shockwave shot outward, sending the trainers flying back again and forcing their Pokémon to save them.
When the dust settled, floating above Groudon and Kyogre were Maxie and Archie, but they looked different. Their foreheads were glowing with their respective symbols, and they both had unnaturally sharp teeth.
But most noticeable were their arms. Across their exposed skin were glowing symbols that seemed to copy the markings of the Legendaries they controlled, Groudon for Maxie and Kyogre for Archie.
But something else caught everyone’s attention. In their other hands, they were each holding someone by the neck as they struggled against the monstrous grip.
Team Aqua recognized the one Archie held as Audrey, while Team Magma recognized the one Maxie held as Zenith.
As they struggled, both Archie and Maxie laughed unnaturally loud, and the Orbs fused to their skin were slowly being absorbed deeper into their hands until finally there were no Orbs left at all.
Instead, on their hands were the Alpha and Omega symbols.
Archie spoke first, "So you wanted to betray me and take Kyogre? Well, why didn’t you say so? Here, now you can meet it face to face."
Then, right in front of everyone, Archie dropped Audrey. Audrey fell into the water, and when she surfaced for air, she found herself face-to-face with Kyogre staring down at her.
Shelly saw it and immediately realized what he was about to do, "ARCHIE, DON’T DO IT!"
But Archie either didn’t hear her, chose to ignore her, or...maybe it was something else entirely. He gave the command. Kyogre immediately surged toward Audrey with its jaws open wide.
Audrey didn’t even get the chance to scream. She just took one last breath before Kyogre’s jaws snapped shut around her with a sickening crack. Then Kyogre swam downward, leaving behind only one thing floating in the water, Audrey’s severed arm.
Meanwhile, on the other side, Maxie grinned savagely at Zenith, "You think you deserve to take my plan? I won’t allow it, you piece of filth."
Maxie threw Zenith to the ground, sending him crashing onto the rocks. As Zenith tried to get back up, he suddenly felt the air become unbearably hot, too hot.
He looked up and saw Groudon staring down at him.
As Maxie gave the command, far away a certain girl watched the scene unfold and whispered quietly, "No...don’t..."
But her voice was useless, Groudon lowered its massive jaws toward Zenith.
Yet even then, Zenith only laughed, "Figures...can’t say I’m surprised. I just wish I got to do it to you first! Hahaha!"
Even as Groudon got close enough for Zenith’s skin to begin melting from the heat alone, he kept laughing until the very bitter end, then Groudon bit down. And the laughter stopped forever.
Once Kyogre resurfaced and Groudon stood tall again, Archie and Maxie turned as they heard the sound of people approaching.
There they saw them, Maxie saw Tabitha and Blaise, Archie saw Shelly and Amber.
"Ha. So you two decided to betray me just like that idiot," Maxie mocked.
"I should’ve made sure you were dead myself!" Archie continued, almost perfectly in sync.
"No matter. First I’ll destroy you traitors," Maxie said first.
Archie continued immediately after him, "Then you filthy Gym Leaders."
And finally, at the same time, they both pointed toward each other, "Then we’ll settle this once and for all!"
Then together, at the exact same time, they raised the hands where the Orbs had been absorbed and smirked as the markings began glowing brighter.
Maxie spoke first into the communicator in his glasses, "Team Magma, destroy Hoenn!"
Archie did the same into the communicator built into his anchor necklace, "Team Aqua, sink Hoenn!"
The light coming from their hands began glowing even brighter, and so did Groudon and Kyogre, so bright that people in other regions could see the red and blue light in the sky.
And all across the world, people collectively thought the same thing. What the hell is going on in Hoenn?
