Chapter 639 - 587: Cooperation
As soon as these words were spoken, the scene fell into silence.
Everyone present turned their gaze to Nangong Xuan, with a few even furrowing their brows, casting questioning looks in his direction.
Gu Yuan spoke slowly, "Lord Nangong, you might clarify your words further."
Qin An tapped the table rhythmically with his fingertips, feeling there was something amiss.
With measured words, Nangong Xuan said, "My meaning is simple. Everyone already knows the original inhabitants of the Forbidden Area have set their sights on Mr. Qin."
"Perhaps we can use Mr. Qin as bait to draw out the original inhabitants and ambush them to eliminate them."
"This might change the situation in the Reincarnation Forbidden Area, though admittedly it brings danger to Mr. Qin."
Gu Yuan furrowed his brow, "According to Lord Nangong’s idea, not only is it dangerous, but it puts Mr. Qin in peril. This approach may not work."
"As Envoys of the Forbidden Land, our goal is to complete tasks, but this doesn’t mean forsaking our principles."
"Qin An is also our colleague. With the original inhabitants fixated on him, if we use Qin An as bait, how can we ensure his safety? We can’t make any absolute guarantees."
The Envoys exchanged glances and nodded, evidently agreeing with Gu Yuan’s perspective.
Nangong Xuan sighed, "If you refuse to do this, what other way can deal with the original inhabitants? Engage in the final battle with the Demon Pseudo-Gods, leading to mutual ruin or a Pyrrhic victory."
"Then, when the original inhabitants re-emerge to reap the benefits, we would be left powerless to resist. Hence, having Mr. Qin as bait presents a fine opportunity."
Yue Wushuang clenched his fist and gritted through his teeth, "Nangong Xuan, I truly misunderstood you before. To think you would resort to such unscrupulous means to complete a task, even more nauseating than during that prior mission."
Nangong Xuan slightly shook his head, "I’ll accept your rebuke, but it’s up to Mr. Qin to decide. Mr. Qin is a formidable figure in the Evil Extermination Bureau, and now everything is about task completion. I believe Mr. Qin won’t refuse."
"Though there is danger, danger often accompanies reward, so Mr. Qin should think carefully."
Just a few words plunged the crowd into contemplation.
Qin An placed his hand on Cold Star, gently stroking the patterns along the blade, speaking coldly, "Can’t believe there’s moral coercion happening here, in a Forbidden Area no less, amusing. If I refuse, what then?"
Nangong Xuan sneered, "If Mr. Qin refuses, we can only proceed with the final battle, where mutual destruction would simply hand benefits to the original inhabitants."
His tone carried an air of disdain, as if Qin An were cowardly.
Gu Yuan said sternly, "Nangong Xuan, this suggestion can only be raised once. If you continue, don’t blame me for not being courteous."
Nangong Xuan sneered but fell silent, opting not to press further following Gu Yuan’s remark.
Gu Yuan then turned to Qin An, saying, "Mr. Qin, this matter is somewhat troublesome but not overly so. Rest assured, we wouldn’t send you as bait to put you needlessly in danger."
Qin An shook his head, "I’m not worried, but rather unwilling. No one in this world can force me to do what I don’t want."
Gu Yuan simply nodded, "Alright, in that case, does anyone else have plans to discuss? There’s still three days before the final task, so everyone should ponder thoroughly. If you think of anything, let me know."
Despite the contemplation, no one stood up, signifying their lack of preparation for this unexpected task.
Thus, Gu Yuan instructed the crowd to leave for now.
If any specific plan arises, they were to return and inform him.
Everyone nodded slightly, preparing to rise and leave.
Considering sitting around wouldn’t yield any good ideas.
But at that moment, Qin An’s voice suddenly interrupted.
Gu Yuan furrowed his brows, looking at Qin An.
Only to hear Qin An calmly saying, "Lord Gu, I do have a way to draw out the original inhabitants from the Reincarnation Forbidden Area."
Though softly spoken, everyone including Gu Yuan, turned their gaze to Qin An.
They looked at Qin An with a tinge of curiosity.
Gu Yuan asked curiously, "What method? Mr. Qin, please share. If viable, we will naturally pursue it."
Qin An pondered for a moment before replying, "The fewer who know, the better. May everyone leave first, and I’ll inform Lord Gu along with Lord Yue."
Gu Yuan, growing increasingly curious, watched as Qin An maintained such secrecy, eager to hear what he would reveal.
The Envoys exchanged glances, none objecting.
Even temporarily leaving the location was accepted.
After all, as Envoys, task completion is the priority.
Only Nangong Xuan, before leaving, cast a faintly venomous glare at Qin An.
Qin An seemed oblivious, turning his attention to Gu Yuan only after everyone had left.
