Chapter 826 - 851: Competing for Favor and Suppressing Rivals (2)
The two of them locked eyes.
Frank Holland had already looked away when he heard her suddenly shout, "Thief!"
As soon as she said it, she stood sideways next to the cart, blocking the path.
Mia Ginger had thought it through; the space was limited, and the boy looked so weak, while Frank was tall and strong, surely he could easily subdue him in no time?
Who would’ve thought—
The moment she spoke, the boy suddenly flashed a small knife from his sleeve, and it was about to come at her face.
Whether he was just trying to scare her or going through with it, Mia was stunned and quickly grabbed his wrist. The boy twisted his wrist skillfully, and the knife sliced across her wrist, making blood gush out painfully.
Mia was dumbfounded, letting go of him from the pain.
The boy didn’t stop either, lifting his leg and somehow flying over from her cart.
Everything happened so suddenly, it was really only a matter of seconds. By the time Mia came to her senses, she heard a crunch as the cart slid down sharply. The boy hadn’t crossed over yet, and his wrist was caught inside the cart, making him scream.
It seemed like his wrist was broken...
Mia wasn’t much better off, with blood dripping down her wrist.
Frank Holland was already by her side, asking urgently, "Are you okay?"
"Not okay," Mia replied irritably.
Why did she have to meddle so much, thinking it would just be a simple act to call out, and she almost heroically sacrificed herself.
Actually, it wasn’t Frank’s fault.
She only confirmed the thief when they locked eyes, and by the time she shouted, the boy was already right in front of her, with the knife scare happening in just a few seconds. Frank was a bit of a distance away, so it was normal that he was a step behind.
But still—
It hurt.
Mia frowned tightly in pain, ignoring the cart and holding her arm with one hand.
Frank took out a handkerchief from his pocket, folded it over her wound, and urged, "Hang in there."
As soon as he said this, he grabbed his shopping bag with one hand and Mia’s cart with the other, then dragged the boy who was trying to run down the escalator by the collar.
At the bottom of the escalator, there were supermarket staff organizing carts. Frank immediately said, "Please call security."
The staff quickly reacted and walked briskly away.
Mia held her wrist, with blood seeping through the handkerchief, but it didn’t seem as terrifying now, as the bleeding appeared to have stopped.
Frank, unconcerned with the items for the moment, focused on restraining the thief.
The thief begged for mercy, but Frank promptly kicked him, forcing him to kneel on the ground.
Other people coming off the escalator started pointing and commenting.
"This young lady is really brave."
"It’s not easy to do good deeds these days."
"Such a young age, yet behaving so poorly."
"With hands and feet, why not find a legitimate job?"
"Let him sit in the police station."
"...."
Mia was the one being praised, making her feel a bit embarrassed as she awkwardly turned her head to the side.
Frank glanced down at her, with a faint smile on his lips.
Thinking back to the scene of her heroically blocking the thief, he found it somewhat amusing.
Soon enough—
Two mall security guards arrived and escorted the thief away.
With one wrist injured, Mia naturally couldn’t carry anything, so Frank willingly carried all the shopping bags, looked at her, and said, "There should be a clinic nearby, I’ll accompany you to get it checked."
"No need," Mia started to say, but then changed her mind, "Okay."
